How to watch Blu-ray movie on your HDTV

March 15th, 2010

Blu-ray movies always provide people with outstanding  visual and aural experiences, so you can imagine how wonderful it is to watch  BD movies on your widescreen HDTV with your families sitting on the couch comfortably  in your living room. Roughly, the ways people used to watching Blu-ray movies  are various, and the straightest method is connecting a Blu-ray disc player to  a HDTV for playback. However, People also have other solutions even though they  have no Blu-ray player, including using an Iomega hard disk media player or a  WDTV Media player, Popcorn Hour, Xbox 360, or other media players or devices as  a medium, or using an external hard drive to store the BD files and then  connect it to HDTV to watch the movies, or using the HDMI port or an S-Video  cable to watch videos from PC to HDTV, etc.
On the problem of how to convert MKV to Xvid, MKV to Xvid Converter provides you an easy and fast way to do that, a guide is provided as well.
Since Blu-ray movies have strict copy protections (AACS,  BD+, region code), as well as these intermediates have their requested video  formats, for example, some supports mpeg4, divx, and xvid, some supports AVI or  WMV, and some supports MKV or others. It is essential to remove BD protections  and rip Blu-ray to an appropriate format for playback on HDTV through these  in-between devices. You may ask: “what is your method to do format conversion?”  Well, the following paragraphs will shed some light on this question.

Software you will need:
Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper

To find a step-by-step instruction in the following:

Step 1: Install and launch this program, and afterwards  you can click “DVD Rom”, “DVD Folder” or “IFO/ISO” icon to load your Blu-ray  files.

Step 2: Select subtitle and audio track
Click on the pull down menu of “Subtitle”, then  all the subtitles in the BD movie will be listed out, including language and  subtitle ID, you can select one according to your own needs.

Click the drop-down list of “Audio”, and then  all the info about audio tracks are shown clearly, including language, audio  codec(turehd and dts master audio are both supported as well), stream ID, and  audio channel, you can choose whatever you like to do conversion.

Step 3: Select output format
Click on the drop down menu of “Format” to select output  format. Which one to choose is depending on the compatible formats of your  media players or devices that you used to transfer BD files to your HDTV. For  instance, if your player is capable of playback .m2ts files, you can choose “Copy”-  ”Directly Copy”, and this option will keep the original quality of your BD  content to full extent. If your device allows HD playback, and supports h.264  mp4 format, and then this one would be the correct selection for you. The rest  can be done in the same manner. How to convert and edit MOD video with MOD Converter? Pavtube MOD Converter is designed for camcorder owners to edit and convert MOD to audio and almost all popular video formats.

Directly Copy:

H.264 HD Video .mp4:

Step 4: Set advanced settings

Once finished, the output files can be found out via  clicking on “Open” button effortlessly, and then you can use your own ways to  watch Blu-ray movies on your HDTV, such as connecting your PC to your HDTV via  S-Video or HDMI cables, or adding them to your media players for playback on  the HDTV, or whatever. Play Blu-ray movie with HDTV DVD Combo – Burning Blu-ray to DVD

March 15th, 2010

HDTV DVD Combo features a built-in slot-loading DVD  player, which provides an optimum way to save space. With the slim profile, it’s  really an amazing experience to watch favorites TV shows and DVD movies on this  device in your bedroom. But if your TV only has a standard DVD player but not  the Blu-ray disc player, what is your solution to play Blu-ray movies on it?  I’d like to know your ideas. I believe my way is somewhat helpful, just convert  BD to a DVD format, and then burn it to a blank DVD for playback on the TV/DVD  Combo, so share it here, and also be glad to hearing from you guys.

The software I used is as  below:

- Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper

- ReJig (freeware)

- ImgBurn (freeware)

HOW-TO:

Part 1:

Firstly, use Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper to remove copy  protections of Blu-ray movies, and meanwhile convert it to the DVD vob format.

1. Run Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper and click “DVD Rom”, “DVD  Folder” or “IFO/ISO” to load Blu-ray movies. Generally speaking, the file with  the longest duration time would be the main movie, if you just need back up the  main movie, tick off this one only.

Each file will be checked by default after imported, right  click on any one of the files, and then there will be a popup window to let you  uncheck all, just do it, and afterwards to tick off the checkbox before the  file you need converted.

2. Click on the drop-down menus after “Subtitle” and  ”Audio” respectively to select your required languages and sound effect.

3. Select VOB as output format and specify destination  folder

Click on the pull down list of “Format” to select VOB as output  format and click on the folder icon at the opposite side of “Output” to specify  destination folder.

4. Customize output settings

The popup window will allow you to adjust audio and video  parameters including codec, bit rate, aspect ratio, frame rate, sample rate,  and audio channels to optimize the output file quality.

5. Click on “Convert” button to start BD ripping

Once finished, you can find out the output files via  clicking on “Open” button with ease.

Part 2:

Then use ReJig to  do DVD authoring.

It’s pretty  simple with ReJig. Press “File Mode”; add your vob files and Demux.

When it’s  finished, close that box and then select DVD Author. Add the video and audio  files you’ve just created, and choose output destination folder, and click  Create.

After DVD authoring is completed, you can open the destination  folder to see that the output files are AUDIO-TS and VIDEO-TS folders, which  are the correct structure for DVD burning.

Part 3:

Use ImgBurn to burn DVD

We have got VIDEO-TS folder in part two, so the DVD  burning process with ImgBurn is pretty simple. Here give you two links to check  the detailed steps:

How  to write DVD Video files directly to single layer media using ImgBurn (DVD±R/RW)

How to write a DVD  Video double layer disc using ImgBurn (Verbatim  DVD+R DL) – just check the contents that start from adding VIDEO-TS  folder of this guide.

The end! Hope this helps.

Convert DVD to good quality MPG or VOB

March 15th, 2010

I have been looking for a program to help me convert some  of my DVD movies to MPG or VOB formats with good output quality, so that I can  make use of them to do other use. After spending an entire weekend Google-ing the  Web and trying different packages I decided to purchase Pavtube Blu-Ray Video  Converter Ultimate, since it works with not only DVDs, but also Blu-ray discs and  almost all video files, which provides one-stop service and versatile functionalities.  The most important thing is that it works well, without audio and video out of  sync issues and guarantees an excellent output quality to meet my needs.  Suppose you are having the same requirements like me, please find the step-by-step  instruction I shared as below:

BTW, you can free download Pavtube Blu-Ray Video  Converter Ultimate here.

Step 1: Launch this  program, and click “Load DVD” to add DVD files.

This program will tick all the imported files by default,  but generally, the one with the longest duration time would be the main movie,  so you can right click on the file to uncheck all, and then tick off this one.

Step 2: Select your  needed subtitle and audio track

This program is capable of recognizing all the subtitle  and audio track information, which enables you to select your desired languages  to convert.

Step 3: Select MPG or VOB  as output format

Click on the drop-down menu of “Format”, and then the  output formats profile will pop up. To output MPG format, there are “Common  Video” and “HD Video” to choose from. I’d like to output good quality files, so  I select “HD Video”-”MPEG-S HD Video (*.mpg)” as an example.

There are also vob formats customized for different  regions. Notice that NTSC  is a video format used in North America, Central America, Japan, and parts of  South America; PAL is the video format used in Europe, Africa, the Middle East,  most of Asia, and parts of South America; SECAM is used in Africa, Asia,  Pacific Islands, Former USSR, and Americas. You should select one according to  your geographical regions.

Step 4: Click “Settings” button  to adjust audio and video parameters

You are allowed to adjust codec name, aspect ratio, bit  rate, frame rate, sample rate, and audio channels to customize the file quality  and file size.

Step 5: Click “Convert” button  to start ripping DVD to MPG or VOB

Once finished, you can get the output files via clicking  on “Open” button with ease.

Additional tips:

How to adjust Brightness,  Contrast, and do Deinterlacing

One more reason I prefer to this DVD to MPG or  VOB converter is that I also love the way to make the video quality  brighter or darker and adjust the contrast and do deinterlacing. Go to “Edit”  icon, and then the following editor window will show off. Hit on “Effect”  button firstly, and then drag the slider bars under “Brightness”, “Contrast”, and  ”Saturation” to do adjustment. Meanwhile, you can click on the pull down menu  of “Effect” to add special effects to your videos, and tick off the checkbox “Deinterlaing”  to remove the obvious lines that go across the image.
